The last three weeks have been very exciting for our team because testing has begun with integration of our electronic components with frame components from the Mechanical Engineering team. For initial fitting and testing, the frame components were 3d printed using PLA (PolyLactic Acid) filament. In the first fitting, we realized the motor supports...

A test was done on the video transmitter (VTX), to understand the limitations that a drone would have operated indoors, when receiving a signal. These limitations include the range and operability of the VTX. This test was conducted using a camera, video transmitter, battery, and an antenna that matched with the UAV design. An antenna receiver was...

Over the past two weeks, February 5 - February 19, 2022, our team has received all our components(except the radio transmitter-console for the drone). With the arrival of all materials, we are able to test out our components and check some of the specifications not provided online.

Over the winter break and the last 4 weeks, we've been making steady progress on our project. We've been delayed constantly by shipping challenges, but with all parts on the way and tasks for everyone to work on, we're still on track to deliver.

In our Senior design courses, every year, we are required to publish an ethics report on our project. For most projects this is a blow off assignment - just a simple checkbox that's required for students on the way to their project, and for the Universities to follow the ABET accreditation policy. But for our project, for our company, ethics...

The team came up with equations to calculate the impact energy and forces the drone frame will need to sustain at maximum velocity. The team also obtained data from sources to assist in converting dynamic loads to statically equivalent loads for FEA simulations. A design shape was chosen after conducting the necessary FEA simulations to compare the...

"Sometimes, it's difficult to think the senior projects we work on will ever matter. Most of them never will... and are regulated to closets at a university or, even worse, a file saved in a computer long lost.

We're making steady progress on refining our schematics, options, and initial presentations to make sure that we do this project by the book. We've been meeting every week out in the Library makerspace to make sure we have everything ready before we start!

This is Limited Technologies first blog post detailing the progress we hope to make in the future, the progress we are making now, and what we're thinking today. It's also a class grade, so hope we do well.
